Don’t delegate your anointing. Don’t delegate your purpose.
We are so busy doing many things and want to delegate and outsource everything at the drop of a hat! We give tasks to other people to do for us. Yes, delegation reduces our workload, clears our desks and perhaps gives us time to spend with family. However, here’s the truth:
“The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. – John 10:12-13 NIV
The worker who is paid to keep the sheep is different from the shepherd who owns them. When the worker sees a wolf coming, he runs away and leaves the sheep alone. Then the wolf attacks the sheep and scatters them. The man runs away because he is only a paid worker and does not really care about the sheep.”- John 10:12-13 NCV
The truth is that if for any reason trouble comes, you will stay to figure out a solution because your name is on it and as they say, you put your sweat in it.
There’s nothing wrong with delegation but there are some things that only you can do (and NOBODY does them like you do).
God has given you some tasks for a reason. He has chosen, appointed and equipped you for such a time as this. If He has anointed you to draw, build, paint or sculpt, why hand over that special task to someone else? If He has appointed you to lead, why take a back seat and let someone else take over? Why hand over the steering wheel to your colleague?
In my life, I have learned to delegate tasks which take up my time because I am not very skilled at them, I don’t even enjoy doing them but they are necessary for effective operations. I give the tasks to people who know what they are doing and are good at doing them. I focus on my calling, talents, gifts, things I know that I do very well and I use all of them to the glory of God.
And you can do the same too!
Yes, you can delegate. You can train people to work with you, learn the ropes and how you do things. However, if you are the CEO of a company, Ministry Leader, Pastor, Chief Administrator, Project Manager and you allow someone who does not catch the vision, understand the purpose or why you do what you do to take over, you are in serious trouble!
Yes, time will come when you will need to take a back seat, just like how Moses handed over to Joshua (Deuteronomy 31:7) but God will direct you and show you the person that is qualified for the position and will tell you when to do it.
In the meantime, don’t delegate your purpose. Don’t delegate your anointing.
Your anointing is connected to someone’s deliverance. When you walk in your purpose and do what God has appointed you to do, understand that someone is bound to be set free financially, emotionally, physically or spiritually. It’s like a ripple effect – you help someone, it trickles down to another and to another.
Question: Have you been delegating correctly?
