When Family and Friends Don’t Support You

Don’t expect all family and friends to support your business venture, cause or ministry. Infact, you may just be in this ‘thing’ all by yourself.

It’s the truth and it can taste bitter.

You will encounter naysayers and people who mock you. You will experience situations where you feel alone for daring to be you. You will discover the enemy’s camp even inside your own home. Sometimes you will feel like if they believed in you, then they would help you or even promote you.

So what do you do when you don’t have support from loved ones?

(1) You shall not be moved. When you face opposition even within the four walls of your own treasured space, don’t be moved. The best revenge is success! God is your promoter. When He promotes you, nobody can bring you down.

When man promotes you, man can also bring you down.

I have been there.
When I purposefully began pursuing the things of God more many years ago, I had very close family members call me names. I heard questions like – why are you acting strange, nobody in this family has ever taken this Christian thing this far.

What was my reaction?
I wasn’t moved. I knew what the Lord had done for me, what He told me to do and what He would do through me as His vessel. I set my face like a flint, because my Abba Father helps me and I will not be disgraced.

Some people see your glory but don’t know your story, and some know your story and don’t believe that God can do anything.

When you go through the waters and come out of it stronger than before because God promised you that He would never leave or forsake you and He really and truly didn’t leave or forsake you, what’s your excuse not to fully trust in Him?

Where were those people when you were being tossed back and forth in the storm? Who saved you?

(2) Recognize that it is a bad spirit that is operating and not the individual. There’s no way the devil wants you to succeed especially when he knows that your success will deliver many from poverty, shame and distress. He is well-known as the destroyer and destiny robber.

So what does the devil do?
He operates through those close to you to get you discouraged, even think you are useless and just quit the whole thing.

Let’s be honest – you may not care too much about what outsiders think of you but what your family thinks matters to you.

The reality is this – you have passed that stage of caring about what people think. What you need to care about right now is what the Father thinks of you and whether you are putting to good use everything He has placed in your hands.

When family and friends don’t support you or even believe in anything you are doing, press on and accomplish that purpose for which you were brought into this world for. I pray in the name of Jesus for a resounding success in all you do!
