You have many tasks to do on your plate and you are now frustrated. You are finding it difficult to finish one thing.
You don’t even know how you got to this stage in the first place. You are easily distracted and it is affecting your work.
Starting with one thing does not mean choosing one thing permanently.
Some folks are multipotentialites, well-versed in several disciplines and they do not like the idea that they have to choose. In this context of starting with one thing, it means you select one task or project and complete it.
Starting and finishing one thing does not mean abandoning the other projects on the back burner. It means you are determined to accomplish your goals, one project at a time.
My experience consulting in the Big Four’s taught me several professional skills. One that has stuck with me for many years is the the power of iterative project management. I owned multiple projects simultaneously and some had very close deadlines. During project implementation, I created a strategy that helped me prioritize and manage my time to beat the deadlines with efficient delivery.
You can finish one thing and move on to the next.
But, how do you even finish one thing without feeling like you have not accomplished much (because you have several tasks to do)?
Here are some tips to help you finish one thing so that you are not overwhelmed and in the process quit altogether:
1. Prioritize.
2. Manage your time.
3. Identify your distractions.
There are more strategic ways to finish or complete several tasks that you have been avoiding. If you have been struggling with launching your personal brand as a professional in the legal or tech space (yeah, that incomplete task on your plate), schedule a strategy call here.
