One question I am asked often is: “how many words do I need to write a book?”
Here are some great tips to figure out your book page count
1. Pick up a book. Look at the size. How many pages does it have? Does it look flat?
2. Get a measuring tape and measure any book you currently have in your possession. For a good 5.5 x 8.5 trim size, the estimate for 12pt Times New Roman or Arial font is 250 words per book page.
3. If you divide 30,000 words by 250, you will have 120 book pages. Now, open a book of that size. Do you like it?
I have been publishing books for many years, so I am sharing this inside info with you to help you get started. I do this professionally. I published my first book in 2003. I publish books for pastors and I even created an online course on how to publish your book yourself.
