What I Learned at The 2013 SES New York Conference

My First SES New York Conference

I had an awesome time at the recent SES New York Conference held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Those sessions were definitely worth the experience. Nothing like being in the midst of people who are passionate about the same (or similar) things – search engine marketing, social media, online content creation and all things Internet marketing! Everywhere I turned, all I could hear was:

“Google panda…Google penguin…link building…analytics…content is king..audience engagement..maximize the current moment.”

It felt good. I met some fellow Londoners at the expo hall from Linkdex and other companies. I knew I was in the right place, with the right people and at the right time.
I drank so much coffee that I thought I was going nuts! It was my first SES conference and with the information I got, it felt like I had been living under a rock 🙂

The SES Conference is proof that knowledge is definitely power. When attending such conferences, open your ears wide and listen attentively to what the speakers have to say. Each day, I learned something new. I learned a lot at SES NY. There’s so much information out there and with emerging technologies, you have to stay on top of your game.

If you have never attended an SES Conference, you are missing out.

Find the one nearest to your city and attend. In my humble opinion, to get to the next level in your business or non-profit organization, you need to really understand and see for yourself  the power of the Internet (many case studies are available). The best part is this – you don’t have to crack your brain to know how to do it. A lot of the skills and tools you need are already available but you just have to know how to access them. Besides, the conference is a great networking event!

For those just starting out and who can’t afford the registration fees, just sign up (in advance) for the free Expo hall pass. This gives you access to the keynotes, sponsored sessions, meet the experts round tables, theater presentations plus more. SES now gives you 12 months online access to all exclusive content from the conference. Isn’t that awesome? Thank you SES. See you in 2014 (Lord willing).

What about you? Did you attend this year’s SES New York Conference? Have you ever attended any? What do you think?
