Your ZigZag Career Path is Not The Problem

Once upon a time, I thought my zigzag career path was a problem. I have written about it already here, about how I reached the tipping point, multipotentiality, how to identify your zone of brilliance and how I merged law with technology.

My story is about law, information technology (front end development, software testing, analytics), digital business (marketing automation, digital publishing…), data privacy and cybersecurity. Some folks couldn’t understand and wondered why not choose one and forget the rest.

I have learned many lessons in my journey and I am always happy to share to impact my generation.

I realized that I was on to something – I was operating in my gift zones, leveraging my knowledge, expertise and the “career path” was actually a destiny path. It wasn’t a problem but a path I needed to walk to provide solutions today.

Your zigzag career path is not the problem. Don’t allow anyone to label your life especially when they do not understand your divine make up. God created you for a reason. Every step has a role in your life including an assignment.

My route took me to many places I wouldn’t have gone if I had pursued only a linear career path.

Some Lessons in My Zigzag Career Path

• People will always have something to say and criticize what they don’t understand.
• No experience is wasted. That step is an assignment.
• You are unique.
• There’s an audience for your authenticity.
• There are people who need your authenticity.
• There are destiny helpers for your authenticity.
• Enjoy the career path and be open.
• Because of your authenticity, you are someone’s destiny helper.

The problem is allowing people to define you because they don’t understand what you carry. You are a walking solution, not a walking problem!

Know yourself and be confident in your abilities. Leverage all your skills, expertise and manage them well so that people are not confused about your career path. You are a gift to this generation.
